Quick tip – Improve a Life, Join Kiva

Are you looking to reach out and help somebody? I am a member of a team of genealogists who lend money on Kiva. The money is used by entrepreneurs and students all over the world who need help to improve their lives. After they repay the loan, you can lend it again.

Our team “Genealogists for Families” has 330 members and has already lent more than $200,000. It’s humbling to realize how many lives we have affected. We have helped farmers purchase cattle and seeds, helped to pay for children’s tuition, and helped merchants buy supplies for their shop. We have helped people rebuild their businesses after hurricanes and earthquakes, and paid for medicine when they were ill.

As a genealogist, I’ve seen what the impact of a small event can be in the course of history. Ancestors who were the only ones to survive out of ten siblings. Ancestors who were brave enough to move to start a better life and wouldn’t have met their spouses otherwise. Without these events, I wouldn’t be here today. I love that I can contribute to live-changing events of others.
