Member of the Editorial Board of the Record

Yvette HoitinkI am excited to announce I have joined the editorial board of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record. The Record, as it is colloquially known, is a peer-reviewed journal focused on scholarly research into New York families.  The Record has appeared for more than 150 years and is the second oldest genealogical journal in English that is still being published today. It is published by the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.

The Record often features families who lived in the colony of New Netherland. Several of my clients have published articles in the journal based on my research into their New Netherland ancestors.

I have been consulting informally with the editors for several years and am honored to be asked to join the editorial board (a volunteer position).  This will give me the opportunity to provide feedback on the articles, reviews, and other content in the journal, with a special focus on the New Netherland articles.

I am very interested to help with the New Netherland Settlers project and sent a message to Jen Davis earlier this week but have not heard back. Several branches of my ancestors were there in the mid 1600s. I was glad to see that you are also a consultant on the project.
