Some of the family photos in my possession don’t have the photographer identified. I am not sure if my ancestors who are in the picture acquired the copyright. Under Dutch law, the copyright expires seventy years after the death of the photographer. But since I don’t know the photographer or rights holder, I don’t know if the photo is still under copyright and cannot ask permission to publish them on my website.
Similarly to Dutch heritage institutes, I publish these photos as orphaned works. If you recognize one of the photos as your own work or think you are the copyright holder, please contact me and we can come to an agreement about a license fee or retraction of the photo.
